Cell phone has become an inseparable thing in our lives. Everywhere we go, we would see people carrying their cell phones, whether it’s Nokia, Blackberry, iPhone or any other brand. The bottom line is having a cell phone is an absolute must.
With each year, this small (some of them) phones get more smarter, more agile with the public’s demand and that’s thanks to something called an Operation System which in layman’s term the software inside the phone. There are many system included inside all kind of cell phone brand, there’s Blackberry OS, IOS (for Apple), Symbian, MeeGo and Android. The latter is currently taking the world by storm. That’s why we’re going to talk about this particular OS today.
Android, this name is the household name so far. Since its inception back in 2005 when Google bought it from its original company the Android Inc. and ever since the system alone become the most best-selling system, beating Symbian in the process, thus, helping several brands of cell phone to reach the top of the charts these few years. HTC, Samsung, Motorola and Goggle Phones are some of the brand that had been helped by the system that is Android.
Android runs on a system stack consisting Java based applications that include a Darvik machine with JIT compilation (what the hell?), written in C, OpenCore Framework, SQLite DMS and a bunch of stuff that I don’t quite understand since I’m not a tech geek. It also consists up to 12 million code lines, 3 mill on XML, 2.8 on C, 2.1 on Java and 1.75 on C++. You do the math…
Since its release there have been updates to ensure and support the users in using this system.
