Google & Microsoft to Produce Cell Phones?
Category: Cellphone News -
The world’s largest internet portal, Google, was said to be producing cell phones. One of Google Executive officers even had confirmed the truth of this news. Isabel Aguilera, Google Director for Spain and Portugal region, was said to admit the company’s plan to produce cell phones.
A Spanish site, Noticias, was the first media which reported Aguilera’s statement. However, Aguilera herself did not declared the real fact about the release of Google Cell Phone. “Some of Google’s time is now spent to investigate the possibilities of the cell phone usage to access information,” said Aguilera, as cited in Noticias.com.
The other news also seemed to confirm this rumor was the recruitment of Mike Reed, a professional graphic designer once working for Apple. Google also had acquired Reqwireless, a Canadian cell phone applications company.
Meanwhile, Microsoft Corporation had been confirmed to release Zune phone in this year, although the exact release date has not yet been announced. Nevertheless, based on information collected from several websites, Microsoft was said to have registered some patents related to their Zune product.
From the name, Zune phone, it could be affirmed that this phone would focus on entertainment features such as music and videos. Zune itself is a product of media player supported by Microsoft to compete with iPOD. The Zune project has also been pointed out as a plan to ruin the sales of i-Phone, Apple’s cell phone which had been released earlier.
