The OpenFM application actively searches an FCC-provided database of licensed FM broadcasters and, using complex algorithms, matches that information against known locations of radio towers to determine the highest quality FM frequencies to use. OpenFM pulls the results in real=time from an active database, according to DLO, not a flat file, so it’s kept accurate and up to date.
Results are returned ranked in three categories, from “Best Bet” to “Good” to “OK” quality. And, unlike similar services, OpenFM will work for any city across all 50 states.

To make your wish come true, what you need to do is a simple trick, self-signing the application. Don’t worry. Since the certification code comes from the developer producing the application, this action is considered legal.

The required tools are:
1. SignSIS files, which can be downloaded at http://d.turboupload.com/d/1639526/signsis_files.zip.html. You will get a zip file (489.34 kb) containing auto_signsis and signsis files. Extract them.
2. Account at www.symbiansigned.com. You are required to sign up as the member of this site.
3. DevCertRequest Tool, which can be downloaded at https://www.symbiansigned.com/DevCertRequest_30_10_2006_v2.0. You can check its update info at https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/page/overview/latestProductUpdates.

Steps of Certifying
a. Create a new folder in your PC. Put the unsigned SIS to be certified (in this example: screenshot_s60_3rd_v2.70_unsigned) and the two other files from signsis_files.zip into that folder.
b. Extract DevCertRequest you have downloaded, and then install it in your PC.
c. Run DevCertRequest Tool. You will be required to make a new file. Name it as you like, and choose the folder you have created as the output directory, for instance, tips.csr. It is recommended to name the file like the name of the application you are going to sign, such as screenshot_s60_3rd_v2.70_unsigned. For the next step, select ‘Open’ > “Next”.
d. In the statement ACS Pub ID Available, select ‘No’. At ‘Private Key File’, browse the folder you have created. Name it like the previous file, tips.key. Select ‘Open’.
e. Type “12345″ at Private key file password, and reconfirm it. Select ‘Next’.
f. Complete the available column. Make sure you do not leave the column with (*) in blank. Select ‘Next’.
g. In IMEI Editor, type the IMEI numbers of your phone to obtain the certificate. If you do not know your numbers, type *#06# when your phone’s screen is in standby mode.
h. Select all “Application Capabilities”, and select “Add”. Next, select ‘Next’.
i. For the final step in DevCertRequest Tool program, select ‘Finish’. In the folder you have created before, you will find four new files.
j. For the next step, go into www.symbiansigned.com and log in.
k. Select “My Symbian Signed” menu. Next, select ‘Developer Certificates’.
l. Select “Request” under the “Developer Certificates”. Then browse the CSR file in the folder you have created before.
m. Select that CSR file (click on ‘Open’) and ‘Send’. You will be taken to the download link of a new certificate (CER file). Download and save this certificate file in the same folder like before. Now, you already have all files required to sign your sis files.
n. Open auto_signsis file with MS Notepad.
o. Change the “xyz” character according to file extension in the folder. Save the batch file (‘save’, not ‘save as’). Then, exit.

Open your folder, and double click on auto_signsis file. Now you will get the new application certified, still in the same folder. Finally, install the application to your phone, and enjoy it.

Cellcrypt’s communication route makes use of Circuit Switch Data (CSD). So, besides requiring 2nd edition Symbian phones, Cellcrypt also requires CSD-support providers.

To avoid being the victim of SMS-tapping, we can add encryption to our text-messages. At least there are two encryption applications that we demonstrate in this article, the application for Symbian phones and for Java-based phones.

Symbian
To protect SMSs and emails, Symbian users can rely on Fortress SMS application. Its trial version can be downloaded at http://www.fortressmail.net/ fortress_sms.htm

Fortress SMS is easy to use. Add password on each SMS you are going to send. The receiver who doesn’t know the password will not be able to open it. Here are the steps to operate Fortress SMS:
1. Activate Fortress SMS, and select option ‘Send message’.
2. Select ‘Option’, find ‘Password’, after the screen shows the menu, enter your password.
3. The SMS that have been sent can be opened if the password is entered correctly. Of course, the receiver’s phone should also have Fortress SMS application.

For Users of Java-based Phone
SMS encryption applications are not only available in phones which have operation system. One supporting application for Java-based phones (MIDP 2.0) is SMS007. This application has better compatibility since it uses general user interface (GUI).

Now, with synchronization, you can use your lovely cell phone as a remote to control your presentation, without having to be near your laptop or PC.

All you need is Phonepoint, an application for Bluetooth-supporting symbian phones produced by an English developer named Devlex Industries. This application can control PC Presentation (Power Point) via your phone’s Bluetooth.

Operating Phonepoint is not difficult and does not require many configurations. Besides being shown in your PC’s screen, your presentation materials can be directly connected to the projector.

Installation Steps:
1. Download Phonepoint.
2. Install EzChat application on both your PC and cell phone.
3. During the PC installation, you will be asked to decide the series of your cell phones by choosing either Series60 Ver1-2 or Series60 Ver3. Automatically, Nokia’s original software installer (if Nokia PC Suit has been installed in your PC) will pop up. Simply select ‘PhonePoint’ .sis file and install it like installing other applications.
4. Connect the Bluetooth dongle as well as the projector (to have a wider view) to the PC. Next, run Power Point. If you already have the presentation files, you can directly open it. File > Open, and select the folder in which the presentation files are located.
5. If you haven’t had a Power Point file, you can directly make one. File > Open > New, and create the materials which are going to be presented, including the necessary images. The number depends on the necessity.
6. Activate the Bluetooth in your cell phone, and run PhonePoint. Next, the screen will be divided into three information boxes. The upper box shows the number of pages in the presentation and the title of each page. The lower left box shows slide show duration, while the lower right shows the time of the presentation.
7. To start showing your presentation materials, select “Options” menu > “Select PC”, and your cell phone will be searching your PC Bluetooth. If your PC is shown, click “Select”.
8. After being connected, the presentation can be started. Select “Options” > “First Slide”. To move to the next or previous pages, simply use your left and right navigation button. To view other pages not in order, simply select “Options” > “Go to Slide”, enter the number of the desired page to be displayed > “OK”.

You can send files via this application. Execution commands, such as send file via Bluetooth or via infrared, are still available, although the choices are less various. Compared to application like SeleQ, X-plore doesn’t have the option to send file via multimedia (MMS) and via email.

X-plore can show the detailed data of a file, its extension, and its size. This application can also be used to open Word files, so installing additional application to open Word files in cell phones is unnecessary. However, if you wish to edit a Word file, you do not have any other option except installing an additional application.

X-plore is also able to extract compressed files. X-plore at least can extract 3 types of different compressed files: Zip, Rar, and Jar. Using X-plore, general information such as the phone’s total RAM memory, free RAM memory, CPU speed, and IMEI numbers can be accessed from Device Info menu.

To save time in operating X-plore, this application also provides numerical shortcuts, such as pressing keypad number one for copying file command. In Quick Folder menu, shortcuts for frequently opened folders can be configured. As a comparison, using a low quality setting, a video file whose size is 58 MB can be converted into a 10 MB file, approximately one fifth of its original size. Meanwhile, using high quality setting, it can be converted into a 20 MB file, or 35% of the original file.
Mobiola converter supports various formats, such as avi, 3gp, mov, mpeg, mpg, mjpeg, mp4, mg2, mve, m4v, mkv, flv, smk, str, rm, fli, flc, wve, uv2, wmv, 3g2, asf, m4a, and DVD format or vob to be converted into avi.

Using Mobiola player, PULSA have run those two converted files in Nokia 6630. It turned out that the high quality file showed better picture, but produced unsmooth sounds.
